Within the Friuli Section, the Lignano Section collects and values a rich heritage of book, iconographic and archival documents that testify to the birth of the tourist city, its peculiar urban and architectural development, the evolution of the idea of vacation from the early twentieth century to today.

The section contains the main printed works dedicated to the territory of Lignano Sabbiadoro and the lagoon area: monographs, essays, vintage guides, local publications and degree theses.

Historical Postcards Fund
The Library houses a precious collection of more than 1,500 illustrated historical postcards, which document the urban, social and landscape evolution of the seaside town from the early 1900s to the 80s.
The collection, digitized and catalogued in 2009 and divided into the Simeoni Fund and the Bartolucci Fund, can be fully consulted online on the portal of the Regional Cultural Heritage Authority FVG.

Historical Photographs Fund
Over a thousand images, positive and negative, are kept in the Library's Photographic Archive. The fund documents the birth of the tourist city and its growth: aerial footage between the late 1950s and early Seventies, construction sites of accommodation facilities and villas, signed by great architects and taken by vintage photographers, testimonies of costume and sport (from the first automotive gymkhans to the Lignano Rally, to campsites and nautical tourism). Historical press review and other materials of local interest
A large collection of press reviews is available for consultation at the Library: a selection of articles and excerpts about Lignano Sabbiadoro published by the main local and national newspapers from 1968 to today.
