3. How do I log in for the first time?

4. How to log in after the first one?

5. How to read the ebooks in the catalog?

For more information or assistance, the librarians are at your disposal and you can contact them by phone at 0431.409160 or by email at biblio@lignano.org

1. How to search the catalog?

--> at the top, in the white line, write the title or author or topic and click on Catalog to start the search

--> click on the result that interests you and an overview of the document opens: cover, author, title, publisher, date; at the bottom you can see if the document is available in the library and what location it has

--> if the document is available you can borrow it immediately by clicking on Loan Request: a window opens that will ask you to enter your user credentials and password (login)

--> you can click on Card to view other information about the document, e.g. number of pages, full description, series, subject, etc.

--> if the results are more than one you can scroll the page or, on the side column, you can navigate through the results and filter them using the facets Main Author, Year of publication, Type of material (book, electronic resource, audiovisual), etc. to select the documents of your interest.

--> if you want to search for only one type of materials (books, eBooks, movies, audiobooks) click on 'Advanced Search' and in the 'Search Context' line click on the arrow after 'Catalog' and select 'Books' or 'eBook' or 'Movies' or 'Audiobooks'; by selecting 'Catalog' the search extends to all materials.

To search for a book in the school libraries of the ISIS Mattei Institutes in Latisana and Lignano Sabbiadoro, you must also write: LICEOLATISANA or TECNICOLATISANA or ISISLIGNANO.

Have a good search in the catalog!

2. How to enroll?

If you are of legal age, you can proceed to self-enroll by clicking on the “LOG IN” menu, at the top right, and on Not registered yet?

Fill out the online form by entering all the required data and you will receive an email with your USERNAME (corresponding to the Library registration number) and a PASSWORD.

Alternatively, you can go to the Library carrying an identity document with you: you will fill out the registration form, hand it over to the librarian who will record your data and give you the registration card with a USERNAME indicated free of charge, corresponding to the Library's registration number.

You will need this to access Library services, both on site and online (request to borrow books and DVDs, download e-books, listen to audiobooks online, reservations on documents), and to enter your personal online space, where you can see your reading situation, current loans, your personal list, your saved searches, etc.

For readers already enrolled in one of the libraries of the SBN FRI Hub (the list of libraries can be found in the Reading in Friuli Catalogue), there is no new registration: just ask biblio@lignano.org to authorize the services of the Lignano Sabbiadoro Library.

3. How do I log in for the first time?

In the USER field:
- type your USERNAME (it corresponds to the Library registration number and is on the registration card; it must be entered without the initials 0 and preceded by LS for numbers up to
8,000).

in the PASSWORD field:
- if you have enrolled in the Library, enter your date of birth in the PASSWORD field, using the form dd/mm/yyyy (including/).

- if, on the other hand, you filled out the self-registration form, enter the password that you received by e-mail.

Click on the 'send' button and follow the instructions to change your password.

4. How can I log in after the first one?

8,000).

5. How do you read the ebooks in the catalog?

The eBook is a book in digital format that can be read using a computer, a mobile device (smartphone or tablet) or a device specially designed for the digital reading of eBooks (e-reader).

In the Library catalog there are three different types of ebooks:

  • “commercial” ebooks: they are protected with Adobe DRM (Digital Rights Management) and each loan lasts 14 days
  • e-books in pdf format: they can be downloaded freely and without duration restrictions
  • e-books that can be used in streaming, i.e. online through the Internet connection, without restrictions on the duration of the loan.

What are the procedures for 'downloading' an Adobe DRM-protected eBook?

  1. Create a free user account (username and password) on the Adobe website (www.adobe.com/it).
  2. Download and install on your device a program (application) for reading eBooks, compatible with DRM management, such as Adobe Digital Editions for PC/MAC (if you use Linux you can install Adobe Digital Editions through Wine), Bluefire or Aldiko for smartphones and tablets.
Authorize the reading application with the created account. From the library portal, register the loan of the eBook (select the ebook, click on register loan and enter your user data and password) and download the file with the .acsm extension to your device, immediately or later. The download link is also sent to your email address and is available, for the entire duration of the loan, in the My Space > Loans and Consultations > In progress section of the catalog. On a smartphone or tablet, downloading the .acsm file launches the app in use for eBooks (Bluefire or Aldiko) which will automatically download the actual eBook (if requested, confirm the operation). On PC/MAC you need to click on the saved .acsm file, and this will launch Adobe Digitale Editions and then the actual eBookwill be downloaded automatically.

If the ebook is in PDF format it can be read on any device; if in EPUB format, it can be read on most reading devices (tablet or smartphone, computer, e-reader with the exception of the Kindle).

How do I upload eBooks to my eReader?

You can upload previously opened eBooks on PC/MAC with Adobe Digital Editions to your eReader, if the eReader and Adobe Digital Editions have been authorized with the same Adobe ID.

By connecting the eReader to the PC via USB cable, Adobe Digital Editions displays the eReader as if it were its own folder and it is possible to drag the eBook to it.

If Adobe Digital Editions does not recognize the device (for example, if you use Wine with Linux and the devices connected via USB are not recognized), you can physically copy the epub or pdf file from the folder where Adobe Digital Editions downloaded it (usually found in Documents/My Digital Editions) to the physical memory of the eReader.

Read the instructions on your eReader for any alternative ways to connecting the USB to interface your device with Adobe Digital Editions or to open Adobe DRM-protected eBooks.

Please note that the Kindle eReader does not support the ePub format or Adobe DRM.
